Silent Cry from The Oceans
Plastic waste accumulating in beaches and oceans has become the most global crisis. Billions of plastic can be found in 40 percent of the world's ocean surfaces. Studies estimate there are now 15–51 trillion pieces of plastic in the world's oceans, from Arctic ice sheets to the sea floor. At current rates, plastic waste is expected to outweigh all the fish in the sea by 2050. Although plastic waste as water pollution arises due to the use of plastic in many sectors, there are several solutions that may be done.
One of the problems is plastic waste which consumed by marine creature may harm their health. The examples are cases about death autopsies result of marine creature carcass which contains plastic waste. Scientist reports that marine creature, such as sea turtles and whale, expect that plastic waste as their prey. This problem leads to another major problem which is consumption of seafood which contaminated by chemical in plastic waste may cause serious health problems. Scientists have found that its seafood contaminated with toxins in plastic waste which may lead to cancer, birth defect, and other serious illness.
It is important that self-awareness and government action to combat these problems. Government should make regulation to control plastic waste. It needs to closely monitor by the adequate legislation. It is also critical for people to aware about reduce, reuse, and recycle the plastic waste as it may produce useful goods for daily activities. They may teach the youngster to use paper bag or bringing shopping bag to carry their goods from supermarket or recycle the plastic waste into the useful goods.
In conclusion, there is no efficient way to stop oceans plastic way pollution quickly. However, people awareness to do reduce, reuses, and recycles, accompanied with government regulation and action to plastic waste may decrease the plastic pollutant in the oceans
